Paragraph Writing
We are learning to write great paragraphs so that we can build our Canadian animal reports. A good paragraph has parts much like a hamburger:
the top bun = main idea topic sentence
the lettuce, tomato and meat = the detail sentences
the bottom bun = saying the main idea in a different way

When I don't know a word I might:

*re-read
*sound it out
*look for picture clues
*read the rest of the sentence and see what makes sense (context clues)
*chunk it (look for smaller words or familiar word parts)
When choosing books that are just right for us, we consider:
*What genres (types) do I enjoy?
*Authors or series we like
*Suggestions from our friends
*Ability to read fluently
*Previewing new selections by reading the jacket

*I can't wait until...
*I wonder what that character looks like, feels like?
*What does this setting look like
